Can I just swap the two cards without changing or installing new drivers. I've never went from an Nvidia card to another Nvidia card.
Update: So I changed video cards and the performance diffrence wasn't much diffrent when it came to maximum fps, just more consistant frame rates. I also overclocked it to 530MHZ on the core using riva tuner, but riva tuner just detected 550MHZ. How come?

Remove nVidia drivers via control panel, ignoring prompts to restart PC.
Remove any traces remaining, etc. with Driver Cleaner.
Turn off PC & power to PC.
Remove old 7800GT.
Install new 7900GT.
Turn on PC, & install the latest nVidia drivers.

How much of a gain is this going to net you?

I was thinking about as 7900Gts are as cheap as 230 with MIR, but.. i do not know i think i want AA+HDR at a good speed before i upgrade again.

Tell us how it goes.

Well, this is my brother's computer and we wanted to see how this thing performed, I just ran a few games with it, but anyway I got the video card before any other parts for a new build, and I wanted to make sure this was a good 7900GT, it's been good so far. I'll swap him back to a 7800GT next week when all the parts arrive.
