I am upgrading my gpu and i was looking into the 8800's and I have been doing research on them.
So far I'm interested in the gts because of the great reviews but whenever I see benchmarks of both the 8800gt and the 8800 gts stock everything the gt is better and it costs up to $150 less why is this?

I am upgrading from a 8600 gt and I'm willing to spend around $300-$350 on a new card
Thanks for the help

You need to look at benches comparing the 512mb 8800gt against the 512mb G92 8800GTS, not the older GTS cards., theyre slower.

Then dont bother with the 8800gts or 8800gt unless you wanna save money.
Buy an ATI 4870 , it will blow those 8800 cards away.

The only thing is that I live in Canada and newegg.com unfortunately doesn't ship here and the order in pc stores around here can get me the higher end 9 series cards for $400+ so...

Well, then back to answering your original question, the G92 512mb 8800GTS is faster than the 512mb 8800gt, the 320mb and 640mb 8800gts cards are slower than the 512mb 8800gt.

another vote for a 4850. it beats the 8800 9800 series and is much better than your 8600.

if you can afford, the 4870 is another fast card

I'm from Canada, too, so I feel your pain. Even though our dollar is worth about the same as the U.S. dollar our prices are way higher because of our 'small' population compared to the U.S. I'd go with the 4850 and, in the near future when prices drop even farther grab a 2nd 4850 for som XFire goodiness!

Thanks for the help everyone. I will definitely look into that 4850 if the future shop near me carries it and i will check out the other cards as well.

For 300 to 350 u could get a gtx 260 for a little more you could get a 280 gtx. It would be a huge upgrade from the 9800,8800 gt and gts. It would be a huge upgrade.

i just got the 280 and it is disgusting how good it is
