Upgrading 2.8 Celeron laptop for development

Thanks for taking a look at this and for any suggestions!

I purchased a Toshiba laptop for home use some time back. Now, I need to use it for development tasks. It currently works for development, but is much slower than my Athlon XP 1600/1GB RAM workstation. I don't think I can justify selling it and spending $1500 on a new laptop, though. I'm on a tight budget, but definitely need a laptop for portability.

What components should I upgrade? I'm definitely thinking moving to 1GB RAM, perhaps more since caching to the slow laptop HD is SO SLOW!

What development tasks does the Celeron's lack of Cache hurt? Compiling? Running Tomcat App server or Eclipse?

Is it possible to upgrade CPU? The package is mFCPGA (FC uPGA478). What would be the maximum speed?

Would upgrading HD to faster RPM help at all? Would greater data density help?

Specs:
Toshiba A65-S126 Laptop
2.8 GHz Celeron (Northwood, 100MHz FSB)
512 MB RAM
60 GB HD
XGA (1024x768) 15" LCD

Development Needs:
WAMP - hardly an issue, very easy on system resources
IIS
VB - again, very easy on system
Java/Tomcat/Eclipse - these are the big ones, my are they slow!!
.NET - in the future

Upgrading to a gig of ram will really help smooth out general desktop usage, so that would be the first thing to do. The next would be to possibly consider buying a larger and faster harddrive.
