Upgrades for laptops?

XMan

Lifer
I know you can get new hard drives, but how about replacement CD-ROMs? I have a Compaq V300, and I'd like to replace the CD-ROM with a DVD drive and maybe upgrade the hard drive . . Compaq's site isn't very helpful, are there any aftermarket places that sell laptop upgrades?

Keep pestering compaq to give you the number to their parts reseller. They are adamant about giving that info out as they claim their laptops arent meant to be upgraded. its BS, they will give you the number if you hound them for it. I did but I forgot the number.

Any 50 pin ATAPI connector drive should work, you may have problems if the compaq has a funky curved bezel

If it's a removable drive you should be able to use the drive tray the current cdrom is in
