I have no idea what's going on now. With win2K pro I never had any problems. I upgraded my WS to winXP pro and now I cannot log on to my domain. funny thing is, it does not happen all the time...Most of the time I can get it to log on but it takes like 2 mins to actually get past the logon screen :(. I have mapped drives that work fine sometimes but other time my explorer window will stall and not respond for about 35secs and then show the files in the share. It seems like something with TCP/ip just isnt talking correctly.
I have active directory installed with default settings for DNS ( I even tried a dcpromo to demote it then another to promote it and re-install avtive directory). I have no idea what is going on... my event log on the XP WS is saying cannot see the domain controller, auto enrollment failed.....no authentication protocol available etc...
I am using TCP/IP only.. my netgear router is server as my DHCP server. All subnetting is correct and I can still logon no problem from a win98 machine. I am lost and I don't want to blow out my server and re-install for no good reason.

Before you have demoted / repromote your DC you should have done a fresh install of XP. It's probably less of a hassel to have done a fresh install before you touched your server.
