Upgraded to a GTX 670, can my i7 950 still hold me over?

Just placed an order for a Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce to upgrade my current EVGA GTX 470+. I have an i7-950 w/ ASUS P6X58D Premium mobo + Corsair A50 HSF (not overclocked). Can my CPU setup hold me over till the next big upgrade platform Haswell?

From my research I'm thinking potentially it should but I may need to look into overclocking my CPU. I'm mainly concerned with keeping a steady 60+ fps in the games that I play and I have a 120hz monitor and will be limited to a max 1080p resolution. Also worth noting I have a SSD and 12gb ram in triple channel mode.

Primary game I will be playing is Guild Wars 2 which is another reason I upgraded my GPU. Other games I occasionally play these days are MW3, CIV 5, Witcher 2 and I have BF3 but really haven't touched it since purchasing it. I'm primarily a gamer with my PC and do not do any graphics or video editing.

I rather not upgrade my cpu setup if I can run everything maxed out with the 670.
Thanks for any feedback.

lol, you act as if your cpu is slow. really just oc it a bit and you are fine. the A50 is certainly not a very good cooler for overclocking a cpu like that though so I would just do a mild oc.

Go for a ~20-30% OC (3.6-3.9ghz) and you should be be running fine and will not need any exotic cooling to get you there. This should be great for the titles you mentioned in your OP.

I don't think my CPU is slow per say for the average user but with my upgrade to a GTX 670 I do want to be able to run most of the games out right now including GW2 when it is released on max settings @ 1080p w/ minimum 60 fps. Felt like I was kind of on the borderline with my CPU setup since I haven't OC'ed. I stopped being an enthusiast a long time ago and I just prefer to run everything stock and upgrade as necessary.
