Upgraded to 24 inch, spare 19, what to do?

Any ideas what I can do with this? I don't think a dual monitor setup would be really useful since the resolution on my 19 inch is 1280 x 1024.

give the dual monitor setup a try, I think you might be surprised at how useful you find a secondary screen, even if it is low res

I double the give it a try as a secondary monitor. 1280x1024 is still pretty decent.

It's very helpful to have a monitor open with productive stuff/browser and another with just fun stuff. Music playlist, video, whatever.

The other thing you can do is use synergy and setup a second computer. Then you can offload cpu intensive tasks to a secondary computer if you do anything so inclined. I like encoding/burning on one computer while working on the other. I like playing games on one computer and having TV shows running on the second computer sometimes.

I have a dual monitor setup, my main monitor is a 22" running 1680 x 1050, and the secondary one is a 17" running 1280 x 1024. I don't know if I would go back to a single monitor on my home computer again. I find it very useful, but it does depend on what you do at home.

I use both monitors even for just answering email. I like having my mail program on the smaller screen, and my reply email on the larger screen, that way if I am answering questions, I still have the questions in front of me. I also work on books, and have to make changes, so my list of changes is on the smaller screen, while the main screen contains the books I'm working on.

Anyway, like the others have said, if your computer can handle it, try it first before getting rid of your extra monitor.

Another vote for this. If you don't think that there's enough screen real estate for 1280x1024 to be valuable, try rotation it 90 degrees.
