laptop: compaq v5303
cpu: turion64 ml-32 1.8ghz
bus speed: 199mhz
multiplier: x9.0
ht link: 795.9mhz

mainboard info: hp 30ae rev.49.56
northbridge: ati xpress 200 (rs480) rev.01
southbridge: ati sb400

ram was originally 512mb of pc2700 cl2.5. i upgraded it to 1gb of ocz pc3200 cl2.5.

problem is the frequency and divider have apparently stayed the same. according to cpuz it obviously recognizes the info about it. problem is that the actual:

frequency: 162.8mhz
fsb to dram: cpu/11

timings are correct.

any idea how to fix this? bios has nothing to help me, at least that i can find. i have been doing desktop tweaking for a long time but this laptop has me baffled. a couple of ideas in this thread over at planetamd64 (sorry, could not link it for some reason). so any other help is appreciated here, thanks folks 🙂

I don't have that particular model, but of all the laptops I've owned, none allowed FSB:RAM ratio adjustments. I currently have Dell D420 with a ULV chip that runs at 533 FSB. Even though I have DDR5300, the RAM runs at the 533 FSB.

hmsrolst is right, youd be hard pressed to find a lappy that allows that type of configuration, they are all pretty locked down since there really is not much upgrading you can do to them anyway

dangit folks, not at all the response i was looking for 😛

so i might as well just enjoy the 512mb --> 1gb upgrade and not try to get the most from my ocz... 🙁
