Upgraded from AMD/ASUS to 680i/E6600 and OS Not Installing

I just upgraded my system to the 680 board with the INTEL dual core processor from my ASUS/AMD rig. The hard drive had VISTA RC1 on it. I wanted to install my copy of WINDOWS XP and when I booted from the CD and started the WINDOWS Installation only 131GB of the 250GB hard drive shows up for formatting. I am also having a hard time installing good old fashion WINDOWS XP PRO. Any ideas on how I can wipe my hard drive clean?

Sounds like your Windows disk is SP1, you need SP2 to recognize HDD's over 131gb.

I believe you can install to the 131g then once you boot windows use a partition program to resize the partition to take up the entire space of the drive...after you upgrade your OS to recognize it.

3rd party partition programs can resize a partition and not lose the data.

The above 2 posts already answered the question/problem. You could also use something like Knoppix to boot the system and then partition the disk/format and then reboot using the install cd...
