Couple weeks ago, I decided to go to the Jeep dealer to see what new stuff came out. I ended up leaving with a new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. Still figuring things out, a lot of new tech: adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, park assist, blind spot monitoring, start/stop, etc etc... One thing i did forget to check before buying the vehicle though was NAV @ $495.00, dealer activated option. I decided I'll use my phone when I need it; plus, not much need of it in a small city like Anchorage.

Here's a pic of a drive down to Girdwood; single lane highway made good use of the adaptive cruise control...

I loved my Cherokee, especially the straight 6 motor. The old jeeps were bulletproof. I hope this one does as good for you :^)

Hopefully, I can hang on to this one. Last couple cars haven't made it past 3 years due to just wanting something new :(

Hope it doesn't become an absolute nightmare like mine did. 3 years should be long enough to work out those electrical kinks though... Right?

If you start waking up to a magically dead battery with no obvious explanation, tell them it's the body control module and don't let them take over a month to figure it out.

Yeah hope it will be trouble free. I've been a Jeep/Chrysler owner since the early 90's, and most of the cars I've owned over the years were mostly trouble free or at least problems happened and covered during the warranty period. My 300S kept having recurring problems with the cap-less fuel tank which kept tripping the "Check Engine Light", and a weird thunk from the left front wheel that was never figured out before I traded it in for a Jeep Cherokee.

hehehe... depends. I've taken the Cherokee off-road a couple times. Roads up here aren't that great. When winter is here and there's lots of snow, the side roads can be tough to get around. I've even got stuck in my drive way. So...it's not necessarily about taking off-road adventures, but more about a sensible vehicle for the conditions in Alaska.

When I first moved up here, I had my Chrysler 300m FWD: first winter - got the studless snow tires. Couple years later, got the AWD 300S-extra set of rims and studded snow tires. It was too nice a car for here, so 3 years later, I get the Cherokee. I decided I'd get snow-rated off road tires instead. I got tired of switching tires each season. 3 years later, I upgrade to the JGC...so hopefully, I've found something i can stick with.
