To me that sounds fine and close to what I run. I don't plan to upgrade till end of this year (Christmas 2005) and I play about every game that comes out. Here are my specs:

AthlonXP 2500+ @ 2.2Ghz
Abit NF7-S 2.0 nF2 Ultra
2x512MB Geil PC3200
BFG 6800GT @ 400/1100
Seagate 200GB 7200 8MB IDE
Maxtor 250GB 7200 8MB IDE

For me these specs are more than enough. Next Christmas I will look at upgrading the mobo/CPU/vid (vid only because it is AGP and the new boards tend to be PCIe) After that I might look into SATA because it should have a real, tangable difference. As I said before, I think your system is fine for now, you will have to run the latest games with lower res (1280x1024 or 1024x768) but that is not a big deal.

I remember when lower res meant 640x480 and we were all hoping to have playable framerates ta 1024x768 with no AA and not Ansio. Thank goodness those days are over .

I would try to unlock the pipes. You'll see a nice boost from that. I have a 6800nu in one box that is fully unlocked, and it also clocks to 390MHz on the core. I forget what I have the RAM at, but it's nowhere near a GT. No artifacting at all.

No kidding, now I start to consider upgrading when I can no longer play games at 1600x1200 without AA or AS, that way I have a new card by the time I have hit a ceiling at 1024x768 with 2xaa, 4xas

I remember when high res was 640x480. Still have a game that even runs in windows XP fine that has highest res of that. Just think of the low res

No upgrade needed yet. you might want to overclock.

Im running 1.7ghz p4 512 mushkin pc 2700 ram and a jetway ati radeon 9550 256mb
and im playing all the games on high quality no lag. I playing hl2 on max setting no lag.

All games with high quality and no lag? At what res? What avg fps? and what is 'all' games? My 9600 pro with a 2.2ghz AthlonXP can only run doom3 at 1024x768 med quality to stay above 40 fps, HL2 ran good at 1024x768 max but I still dipped below 30fps at time which is not acceptable.

With my 6800GT @ 400/1100 I can now run all games at 1600x1200 with aa and as (except doom3) but with a 9550 and 1.7 I can't image the games ran THAT well.

Its stable i mean ive ran it like that for 1.5 years no problems. Temps are like between 38-47c that idle and load

My ram sometimes errors in memtest but for everyday use. no problems
