Is it worth upgradin the x1800xt to x1950xt 512mb or 8800gts 640mb? Is the 8800gts faster than the x1950xt? Does it require two slots (or just the space of two slots?)

My current system is a 165opty @ 2.9ghz. Resolution tends around 1600x1200 (or 800x600 when the video card does not support 16x12)?

The x1950xt is around 260 - the 8800gts is around $320 (when on sale).

[I'm not too concern about dx10 at this point as I run xp and no game requires dx10 'cept halo which i will never play]

halo 2 doesn't require dx10 lol, just Vista :p Same for shadowrun, so far there are NO dx10 only games out there. Not even crysis, which will also run on dx9, be that as it may, some titles might be vista only and support dx9.

vista doesn't require dx10 either. as of now its nothing more than marketing hype from Microsoft. i'd go with the better x1950xt

Yes to both. The 8800 is definitely faster, has slightly better image quality and is also a DX10 part. The X1950XT is cheaper and possibly has less driver issues at the moment.

I'd go with an 8800GTS if you can swing it. It's not all that much more than the X1950XT and the advantages far outweigh the additional cost.
