The link to your rig doesn't seem to be working but if you running S939 your machine can't be too slow, I would wait for quad core (I think thats what I'm going to do).

Other then that, go with the AT version of the Zalman 9500 for the 4-pin PWM functionality.

It's not too slow, but it is a dead end and that's why I was thinking of an upgrade.

What do you get when you click on My Rig?

Maybe it is better to wait on Quad Core though. Good point.....

Thanks for the tip. I think I have the My Rig link fixed. Please tell me if it is still not working. But I think it's fixed.

So any suggestions on my new build? RAM, HS, anything?

Other than lobbyone and Operandi, it seems no one else is really interested in givng their thoughts about my new build, but would some at least drop me a reply and let me know if My Rig link is working properly now? Thanks in advance.

The link isn't working for me. It takes me to the MyAnantech Home.

I'll comment on your upgrades once I see your current rig.

Edit:
All I know is that the url in your sig is this: http://www.anandtech.com/myanandtech.aspx

And the url to your rig is this: http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.aspx?rigid=32788

For gaming, I don't think you would see an enormous performance increase from your current setup. Unless you really need more cpu power, I would put that money towards a dx10 card once r600 is released, like you said in your OP. If you're interested in encoding, rendering, or something actually cpu limited, then go for it. You've probably seen it a hundred times, but an overclocked E6400 looks pretty sweet on the encoding benchmark.

You have to logon to the Anandtech home page. Once logged on, set it to rememer you and then you can click on My Rig.

what do you use the machine for?

and you would get more results if you just post your rig in here....

What do you use it for? Gaming? What kind of graphics card is going in it?

Personally, I'd swap out the 9500 for the newer 9700 model. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Other than that, seems pretty solid.

Here is my current rig specs, since my link is not working.

I use my rig for encoding video, Photoshop, gaming and the internet. I often mutiltask and that can bog me down.

AMD X2 4400+ @ 2.64GHz| AC Freezer 64 Pro| Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe| Corsair XMS 3500LLPRO @ 240MHz, 2.5-3-2-6 1T| eVGA 7900GT CO Superclocked @ 575MHz/950MHz| Zalman VF900-CU| WD 74GB Raptor| WD 320GB Caviar SE 16| SB Audigy 2ZS| Lite-On Combo with Lightscribe| Enermax Liberty 620W| Lian Li PC7 Plus II Modded

I am keeping my GPU for now because I want to wait until more DX10 cards hit the shelves, which should bring prices down. As for the memory, I chose that due to it's low latencies and OC abiltilty. I thought about the Zalman 9700, but I thought there was a large difference in noise between the 9500 & the 9700, so I went with the quieter of the two.

I am open to all and any suggestions. THanks in advance for your help.

The only thing there remotely worth upgrading is the GPU, upgrading the CPU and board would be a huge waste of money in my opinion.

This is my upgrade:
Asus P5N32-E SLI 680i
C2D E6400
Corsair XMS2 2x 1GB 6400C4PRO
Zalman 9500

I won't get a new video card until more DX10 cards come out and the prices drop. Otherwise, I will use everything else in my current rig. Any thoughts?

Get these Buffalo Firestix instead of the Corsair. The Corsair doesn't use Micron D9 memory chips any more, and the Firestix are much cheaper.

As for your motherboard, that's excruciatingly expensive. I'd suggest the Gigabyte 965p-S3 or the Asus P5B-Deluxe.

As for your cooler, pick up the slightly improved Zalman 9700 which has also recently been reduced in price to below your 9500. Makes sense.

I suggest looking up OC threads in the CPU/OC forum and motherboard threads of the mobo you're interested in, in the Motherboards forum.

Don't jump in to a purchase. If you're buying after Christmas you have a lot of time to do some research. Read the forums here and make sure you shop around closer to the time you're ordering your parts.

My friend just said the same thing. Thanks for the advice. I think I'll take it.
