I currently have Win98 on my PC. I have an Upgrade version of WIndows 2k Professional. When I go
to install it, I get the option of either upgrading my current windows or doing a fresh install.

I reformatted my PC so the Windows 98 that's on there is brand new from scratch so I have no
settings that I need to keep or anything like that.

If I do a "Fresh Install" does that mean I will then have 98 AND 2k when I'm done or will it remove
98 and replace it with a fresh install of 2k? I don't want two OSs but there's really nothing to
"Upgrade" as far as programs and settings to keep.

Just don't want to have to do this over if I don't get what I'm expectring.

THanks.

You want a "fresh install," which will wipe out the old 98 system entirely. In fact, you don't even need to have 98 installed at all - see the FAQ. So if it makes the choices any easier, you can just completely format the drive from a boot disk, and install 2K from there.

Well my Win 98 CD got cracked when I stpped on it so I have to have it installed because I can't insert the CD for the Upgrade Verification part of the install. I do have the CABs backed up so I was able to reinstall it because I still have the case with the key on it.

ANyway, it's going now so hopefully everything will turn out OK. ;)

FRESH!

Win98 is very different from 2k, I assure you that the upgrade would have problems.
Just a few weeks ago I upgrade from 2k to XP and the computer was just @#$(*& after that, it never worked. I ended up formatting and installing XP fresh. If that happened from 2k to XP which is not that big a difference, you can only imagine what 98 to 2k is like!
