Upgrade video card or video card & motherboard?

I have an Athlon XP 1700+ system with a KT266 (yes, only a KT266 board) motherboard from MSI and a Gainward GeForce 2 MX400 64 MB card. I know I should at least upgrade the video card (thinking about either a Radeon 8500 or a GeForce 4 Ti4200 card), but would changing to at least a KT266A board make much more of a difference? What about a KT333 board? Thanks.
 
Definitely the video card if you want a significant increase in performance. Your mobo is still good, I would wait a bit before upgrading that unless you have the cash and want the best. I'd rather spend that mobo money on a good HSF and overclock the XP 1700+
