Upgrade Version of Vista Questions

As a gift for Xmas, I was given an upgrade retail version of 32 bit Vista.

My intentions are to either leave xp where it is and install vista on another driver or install vista on the current drive and put xp on another computer all together (eventually this is what I will do). I just don't want to loose my xp pro all together.

Will I be able use the upgrade version and still use my xp pro?

And I want the 64 bit version, to my understanding all I have to do is contact microsoft and order the 64 bit for $10 plus shipping. Is that correct?

 
AFAIK the old license becomes invalid as soon as you use the upgrade license. It might technically still work but it would be a violation of the agreement.
 
PS There is a simple workaround so that you can use the upgrade of Vista and also use the XP Pro. Google is your friend.

As for using both XP and Vista once you upgrade, you are not suppose to use the XP license that you are upgrading from.
 
As far as MS invalidating the XP license - how could they do that? What would you do, if you needed to re-install the Vista Upgrade fresh? You would have to re-install XP first, and then activate it (?), and then install Vista over XP. So I doubt that MS disables the XP license at the activation server. It's probably against the EULA to re-install XP (and use it), after you use the XP license to upgrade to Vista.

Uh yea, I wasn't talking about them blacklisting the key on the activation server or anything like that.

I have no idea how many times a license can be used as an upgrade candidate, I would assume once but it would be a good idea to call MS ask them.
