I've always heard that a CPU upgrade really does you no good unless you double the speed. IE from 500MHz to 1000MHz.
But, how about going from a 1.33/266 TBird to a XP 2200+? It's only going from 1.33 to 1.8 but you get the XP technology.
Will there be any major difference? I online game, use photoshop, surf, Word, PowerPoint and rip MP3's.
Specs:
Gigabyte GA-7DXR - 768MB PC2100 - GeForce2 Ultra - WD1200JB - Windows XP Pro
TIA

upgrade yer geforce to a geforce 4 ti4400 or ti4200....for quite a bit less money. and you will enjoy games much more. unless of course you dont game at all. But seeing that you bought an ultra i think that you most likely are quit the gamer :).

I wouldnt bother touching the CPU for another 6 months at least, but there are a few exceptions...

Running a DC client (which loads your CPU up to 100% load if it can) and you want to crack faster (Come visit us in the DC forum! ;))
Its not enough for your current needs (and I doubt this highly unless you are running 2 hour long video compiles :))

If you have the cash, then go for it. In my shoes I would put the cash away for a while :)

don't do it unless you get a ddr mobo. I went from a 1.333 athlon with sdr on an Asus a7v133 to an Abit at7 with an xp 1900+. Huge difference!
