Should I wait till Win2k SP2 is official from Microsoft or install the SP2 patch now???
My system acts a little funny and has it's querks.... should I install this new SP2 floating around???

Reading around, this is what I found. I think I may wait until the end of this week. I have to backup my system anyway as I usually do before major upgrades.

If it's official, why are they being quiet? That sounds kinda dumb of them, doesn't it? I mean, with all the people that were bitchin that they were taking so long? How did you find out that it's official, it's not on the web page or anything that I can find??

Microsoft probably wants all us tecno freaks to get it first because they probably read forums such as this to get last minute feedback.Plus it will take some of the traffic off their servers when they do put it on Windows Update.I will still download it again once they put it on Windows Update because they just might make some improvements afterall.
 
Well jesus it's been in beta for about 38 months so it had better be just fine 🙂

Might as well install it, I'll probably have my system hosed because of my work software anyway.
 
It is not dumb by Microsoft....they just don't want the public to think that there is a lot of problems with windows 2000.

they have a link up for the exppress version this is only 10mb for pro version 23mb for server works fine much betterthan the 103mb d/l for us on 56k

this will be ok till I find a cover disk ( PcPro ) should have it soon
 
yes they did say if there are major problems they will fix them before the release this week.

However you won't be able to get it from windows update cause you will already have it installed (it will register as sp2 even if its not final) and you will have to go downlaod it on a dif part of their site.
