I have a 2600+ with a geforce 6800 AGP, i am giving the computer to my sister and am building myself a new system. should i upgrade to a pci express board and sell my AGP, or just stick with a great AGP mobo and keep the 6800 AGP card?

Well it really depends on what you will be doing. If you're into heavy gaming (aka FPSes), then you should probably go with a socket 939 A64 processor, and thus a PCI-X motherboard. So yes, sell the card and go with a s939 nForce 4 Ultra/SLI motherboard.

I think you should get a new pci- express mobo and all becasue the next gen of vid cards comming out in Q4 probably won't support agp, crushing ur upgrade path.

Welcome to AT.

If I was in that situation, I'd certainly stick with AGP.

I recently moved from a 2500+ barton to a 3200+ A64 and kept my 9800pro.

If you can sell your 6800 for close to what it would cost to get a new one, then it might be a good idea, but if you're going to lose a significant amount of money selling it, I wouldn't bother.

If you're happy with the 6800's performance, I'd say stick with it. When you want to upgrade down the road, you could sell the AGP 6800 and A64 AGP board as a bundle and get a PCI-e board and card.

nForce3 Ultra boards are right up your alley.
