My X800XL gets the job done. I'm on an LCD so my resolution is limited to 1280x1024. I'm finding in the new games however that I have to turn down settings to get comfortable FPS.

Should I upgrade to a 7800GT? Even with the res limitation I like to play with eye candy to max and the 7800GT would get me that with the new games coming out.

Is it worth it though? If I don't get the 7800GT I will definately wait for R580/G80 to upgrade again. So can the X800XL pull it off for another 6+ months? Money is pretty tight so this is a big decision.

If you can think of any other alternatives, I'm all for it!
 
I think the 7800 has the ability to show HDR features without a performance hit. Then there's Purevideo for watching DVDs.

I'm going to move in a while and if I sell my X700 Pro before I move, I'll only buy a 6600 GT while I'm waiting for UT2007 to come out.

Which games do you find you have to turn down the settings?
 
BF2, Far Cry, COD2 and FEAR I have to turn down certain settings to get the FPS up during intense fights. No one has any thoughts?
 
I think u answered your own question "My X800XL gets the job done. " , a 7800 would give u a performace increase defintly , but the price it isnt really worth it.
