Time to upgrade my 300a@450 so I was thinking there are two likely possibilties.
Either buy a unlocked duron(600 maybe) and a new abit board or buy a p3-700 and keep my old abit bx6 v2.0.
With both of these chips I would be hoping to get at least 900.
The price of the duron and new board is around $250 while the p3-700 is around $200 (Not 100% sure on prices)

Any ideas, suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I bought a FC 700E and had it at 868mhz but just turned it up to 933 yesterday. I have an Abit BE6 board. I got a chip,Gorb, and MSI slocket for just over $250.

so I would go with the 700.

My .02 cents

The P3 looks like the easy way to go, but your ability to o/c may be limited by other parts of your system, like the vid card and memory. Your current stuff will likely do a mild overclock just fine, but may not make the jump to 133fsb/w 1/4pci divider.

At any rate, a P3 at 700Mhz will pretty well max out your real world system performance except for professional apps, seti, RC5 etc.

Check the Abit site to be sure that your board and bios support coppermines. An absolute Must.

Alternatively, hold out, save your money, and go for a more complete DDR upgrade after Christmas.
