I am evaluating upgrade to a dual core Wolfdale. May be as high as a E8400. The specs say 22A/72W at 3.3V

Antec HE430

Can I keep the PS or do I need to ge a new one?

3.3v rail doesn't really matter these days, almost everything that requires much power is on the 12v. You'd probably be fine with that PSU with a dual core and modest GPU, but it's probably pretty old so I wouldn't put too much load on it

Damn that thing is old. You should at least upgrade to something made in the last 10 years. Something like a 4350 that has support or the new shader models and APIs and can handle vista aero. Yes I recommend it even if you never play a game

I will keep it in mind if I upgrade the machine to Vista or 7 or if I am forced to replace the card. This machine is a secondary system with an old 3.0 GHz pentium and no graphic requirements, but is short in memory and would benefit of a good dual core. At this point I am trying to go with the minimum upgrade to get dual core and a little more memory at DDR2 prices. I will probably go with a GIGABYTE EP45-UD3R with 4GB of memory. Trying to avoid a PSU replacement if possible.
