UPgrade suggestions

Currently have an old p4b. I want to upgrade to a X2 3800 and a 7800GT. First, I have an old enermax 431 watt PS. Will this work with modern Mobos or did they change the power plug again? Second I'm using Corsair pc3200 platinium low latency which is rated for 2-2-2-5 at ddr400. Will this ram be compatible with an a64 system? Third, I want a mobo that overclocks well but I don't want something as complicated as the DFI boards. I prefer asus because it auto clears the cmos on start up. Any other boards with a similar features? (i know i should get faster ram for OC'ing but i figure i can just set the divider to the appropriate ratio).

I want to keep this under $1000. IF needed I can downgrade the video card to mayb ean x800XL or something. I don't care much for SLI but i suppose having the option can't hurt. Thanks in advance.

Go with the eVGA 7800GT with free SLI mobo (it's a rebranded Jetway). It overclocks fairly well, and it's free 🙂 Your RAM will work fine. Modern boards have a 24-pin PSU connector slot, but you can use an adapter. You probably won't even need $1000 to upgrade.

Epox makes a great 939 board for a good price. They have I think 2 n force 4 boards for around the $90 range. The new Asrock board looks nice, has good upgrade ability, and comes in around $70. I would get a new psu, but thats just me. Seasonic 430W is around $95. Your RAM will work nicely. These components + your cpu and gfx card should put you under $1000.

Interesting, I can still use my AGP card for a while too. I'm hoping more of these ULI chipset boards are released soon

Abit, DFI, and even Asus are supposed to be coming out with one. I look forward to it as well.

epox makes great singel pci-e boards nf4 ultra
as the 1st reply said you could get the deal buy the graphics card and get the free mobo which is a good one at that anandtech did a review on it check it out.
you new ram will look in your new system fine running a divider is smart instead of buying "ocing" ram when you really wont see any real time performance decrease when running a divider and will be able to get a high clock speed.

edit: you already have a p4 that isnt that bad maybe you should save more money and wait for amd's new socket i belive its called m2.
