Upgrade Suggestions to my Current Build

Hey all, here is my current computer spec that I came up with years ago when Battlefield 3 came out.

CPU i5 2500k
MOBO ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
COOLER CM Hyper 212 EVO
RAM 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws Series
CASE 1600 Corsair Graphite Series 600TM Mid Tower
GPU XFX 6950 2GB X2 (Crossfire)
PSU Corsair 850HX PSU

I wanted it to last me for a while and it has but I'm feeling its about time to upgrade.

Currently the only game out there that I'm interested in is advanced warfare which still needs to have benchmarks done.

But for now are there any areas you all see as candidates for upgrading?

I'm looking at primarily my graphic cards (choosing a single card option this time)
Then my RAM (considering 16gb)
And either finally overclocking my CPU or upgrading it.

I believe my motherboard, power supply, and everything else should be okay.

About the only thing I would upgrade on that is the GPU... everything else is pretty solid. I would drop in a SSD before worrying about upgrading your RAM. With your 212 Evo cooler, run a moderate OC (I'm running my 2500K at a measly 4.1GHz, undervolted, and it works pretty well for MW1/2 and BF3/4) and you shouldn't have to worry about upgrading the CPU any time soon.

Thanks, I've already bought an SSD and its working well.

I am an enthusiast and like to play with ultra settings, forgot to mention that 🙂

I will look up some tutorials to overclock the CPU

As for GPU, I think this one is the best bang for the buck atm (and i can sell my 6950's) Zotoc GeForce GTX 970

Strictly speaking, this XFX R9 290X at $320 AR is the best bang for the buck right now. It's got the performance of a GTX 970, but costs less. It does use more power, but the cooler isn't unreasonably loud like the reference coolers were.
