Upgrade Strategy

Which do you think is more effective? Buying a new system at regular intervals, or performing rolling upgrades, where each part is upgraded every now and then?

Depends on the intervals at which you are buying completely new systems, but Id say rolling upgrades (but that also depends on how often you upgrade).

I like the idea of rolling upgrades, but if you're going to end up switching out motherboards too often (like, once a year) because new CPUs are getting too far ahead of you, would buying a new PC (say, every two years or so) be more cost effective?

I'd say rolling upgrades without a doubt... except I usually update CPU/mobo/RAM all at once. Other than that, I think it's pointless to see a good video card, HDD, etc. on sale but tell yourself "no, must wait till Prescott is released and I can upgrade everything..."
