I've been looking to upgrade my computer sometime this month and this is what I am thinking about doing. My HDD is a Maxtor 300GB (16MB cache) and heatsink is an XP-90.

MB: DFI UT SLI-DR - $176
CPU: A64 3700+ San Diego - $325
Memory: 2x1GB Crucial Value DDR400 - $218
Video Card: BFG 7800GTX - $620
Case: Antec P180 - $156 (not sure about this yet)
PSU: Seasonic S12-500 500W - $133

Total: $1628
