Upgrade S478 PIII CPU to S478 Pentium M. Is it possible?

Absolutely not, do not try this.

While the PentiumM has a lot in common with a Pentium 3, it also has a lot in common with a Pentium 4. It is no way compatible with the P3 socket or bus.

Now, if you wanted a nice keychain, you could try this I suppose...
 
Pentium 3s weren't socket 478, Pentium 4s were. Plus, I think Pentium M is socket 479.

Anyhow, I'd say there'd be a better chance of P-M working in a P4 board since they use the same memory bus.
