Situation:
In 2009 I built out the system described at the bottom of this post... Am soliciting a best option opinion. I have enough skill to stuff stuff onto a MB and turn it on. I'm a simple man.

Mission:
To be able to play the upcoming RTW2 all pretty like and detailed without slowdown, stuttering etc...

Execution:
Here is the problem. I have a GTX 260 in my rig plugged into the PCIE 2.0 port. Any reasonable upgrade does not have this interface. Would buying another of the same card and going SLI (my level of technical ability means I can open the side, jam the other card in, connect the two with that thingy, close the case, press power) or would this be a seriously underwhelming experience.

Other problem is if I upgrade to say a GTX 760 I need a new MB, which means new CPU, and so on until $$$. Is my current CPU an issue?

Admin and Logistics: Below is the order I put in 2009. Thanks for any input and pardon any lack of info.

Don't bother with another 260 it will be a waste of money.760 seems like a solid choice.

Why would you have to upgrade motherboard? CPU/RAM bottleneck aside, you can plug a 760 into that board and be done.

Grab a GTX760 or an HD7950, and grab a Phenom II 965BE, clock it up a bit, and be happy. Should run whatever you want without many issues up to 1080P.

760 should work just fine, albeit your CPU will be a bottleneck. A 660 non ti , or a 7850 would be a decent match to the CPU if you can get some overclocking out of it.

Marine I would take it?
