Upgrade questions

I didn't realize how long in the tooth my PC was until I looked at the AnandTech website for the first time in about 6 months.

Specs are at the bottom, I'm looking for cheap upgrades that will give me performance boosts without spending a ton of money.

Best DVD burner out there for for cheap, that's not gonna die on me after 2 months like my Lite-On 52x CDRW??

You know, that Lite-On is still under warranty. They are a good brand. You are going to have dud units with any company.

Well the burner warranty is way long gone, I've been using an old one that doesnt work anymore either.

So really, I'm not ready for a CPU/mobo cause of the $$$$

but RAM and DVD burner are priority I guess...

Cheap, quality DVD burner? Any suggestions on brand?

Also, should I pair up my RAM with the same Geil RAM or should I go with a different 400mhz stick? Overclock specs at bottom

I'm using a 16x Lite-On burner, and it's working great. Lite-On makes drives for Sony, IIRC... so they're a pretty good manufacturer.
