Intel Xeon E5-4640 vs E5-2660

If i have a board that supports the E5-2660v1, will the E5-4640v1 be compatible?

Check the motherboard documentation for a compatibility list. If the CPU is not on the list, it may arbitrarily not function in the board due to an absence of BIOS support, even if the board should be otherwise compatible with the chip.

I think they are both socket 2011 and from the same era. With a bios flash it probably would work.
