Upgrade question

I continue to prepare to upgrade right after US tax time is over. I am going with an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe mother board. As you know, this board has two SATA ports and 1 each Primary and Secondary IDE ports. What I want to do is this: Using round cables I want to connect a new SATA hard drive to a SATA port. I want to use one cable to connect my present IDE CD-RW to one IDE port and one cable to connect my present IDE DVD to the other IDE port. Question 1) Can I do that OK? 2) Between my CD-RW and DVD, which one would be primary? Advice always appreciated.

In a word, yes, you can do exactly that. As far as which optical drive on IDE 1 or 2, flip a coin. Set both as master and hook em up!
