Upgrade Possibilities for Asus A8V Deluxe

Here is my current build:

Asus A8V
Athlon64 3500+ (newcastle skt 939)
1g OCZ DDR3200 RAM
BFG GF6800Ultra
WinXP:Home SP2
22" display 1024x768x32@75hz
PSU - Silverstone Zeus 520W
Silverstone Temjin 6 Windtunnel case

I am considering upgrading the processor and adding another 1gb RAM to carry me until I do a full upgrade next Christmas (and pass this build down the foodchain in my family).

Q1 - Will I notice a difference with the additional 1gb on games like Oblivion, etc?

Q2 - Is there a processor in the $300-400 range now that would result in a noticeable improvement over the current one?

Q3 - Is my timing wrong? Should I wait until the release of AM2/DDR2 this summer to drive prices down?

I say upgrade to PCI-E with that $300-$400 dollars. A new motherboard and Video card can fit in that budget easily, and that is all you need to do the switch. That will def help with games like Oblivion much more than a CPU or RAM upgrade would.
