Bringing down the price on this would be nice, as I can barely afford this.
I was considering getting a 320MB Geforce instead of a 640MB one
or getting 1 x 1GB memory for now.

Please comment on this setup.

I would definitely stick with 2GB of ram personally.

the 8800gts 640 was a s low at 299 a week ago (after rebates), prices jumped this week, it might make sense to wait a little a see if prices fall back. Also if you are comfortable with overclocking then going Intel might be viable as most of the lower end core 2's get really impressive overclocks.
