Upgrade Path

As of right now I have an 9600GT and an E6750. I just bought a 22 inch monitor, and now will be playing at 1680x1050 or w/e that is, rather than 1280x1024, so I'll be buying a new video card. I have 90 days from 4/17 in my step up program, so I'm really hoping that the new high end cards are released by then, or its 150 down the drain ;/. My question is, with the GTX260 will its performance be hampered or at least not at its fullest potential with an E6750 @ 2.6ghz, or OC'd to 3ghz?

It'll be fine. A Core2Duo @ 3.0 Ghz is about the best processor hardware manufacturers can reasonably expect a person to have, and most games are limited by the graphics card rather than the CPU anyway.

That's a good processor, and it's not going to be limiting you for a while. The way CPU's are bottlenecks for GPU's is when they have low clock speed like 2.2GHz is relatively slow. When I "upgraded" from a Phenom 9500 to my E6600 @ 2.4, my FPS was a little better. However when I OC'ed my CPU to 3.2GHz my frame rates were circles around the Phenom build. Hopefully I made a little sense for ya !
