Is there nay future upgradeability for any Intel chipset currently out? So could any future chips work in a present Intel mobo?

I don't think so. The next CPU from Intel is to be the P4/Willamette, which is a next generation chip that will be incompatible with all current chipsets, motherboards, and even power supplies. The only exception to this might be upgraded Celerons for the 100 MHz FSB, if and when they appear.

Nope. P4 = totally new architecture.

This is usually the way it is from generation to generation. P-II's didn't work with socket 7, and Athlons obviously don't work with socket 7 either.

Socket 7 seems to be one of (or maybe the only) socket that could take processors from 2 generations.
