Around a year ago I got my E6400 and a DS3 and it is been running pretty good for the past year with it oc to 3ghz with arctic freezer 7 pro and as5 beside some cold boot issue. Anyway, With the price of the processor falling and games that recommand quad core I am thinking upgrading the processor and sell my 6400. However, I think the highest FSB that my mobo support is 1066 since i think it is a v1 Gigabyte DS3. So that rule out the new and cheap 6750 out of the window and my only choice would be Q6600 Go or the xeon G0 stepping.

Am I better off with getting a q6600 later on when the price drop mroe or get a new mobo and get with the 1333 fsb processor such as E6750. Or better yet, stay with the oc and maybe in a year or two get a total upgrade for my rig?

I don't think the q6600 will fall in price much more. Fry's had one oem for $269 recently with ecs board. Another vender had the old b stepping for $243 awhile back. Those 2 prices are good benchmarks to go by.

Here is the cpu compatibility list for rev 1.0 of the GA-965P-DS3. I actually build exactly the same system last year but only pushed it up to 2.8GHz (to go higher I had to increase the vcore, decided 30% OC for free was good enough).

I sold the motherboard and most of the system (other than the cpu) off to someone that wanted a gaming rig (put in an e6420 for him instead) and have since reused the e6400 in a Shuttle SG33G5.

I plan to just keep this setup until late next year and upgrade to Nehalim instead of even messing with Penryn. The e6400 is plenty powerful for my needs right now and things will be even better in a couple of weeks once I swap my 7600gt (tide-over card) for an 8800gt.
