Upgrade Path???!? Advise needed

I am currently running:

1.4 Athlon
512 PC 133
30.0 GB 7200 HD
ATI 8500 64MB
ESC K7VZA Moboard

I am looking into upgrading my current system and was wondering two things:

A. I run AMD CPU's and wanted to know if I went to an XP board like a AOpen AK77-333 what would likely be the most I would get out of the board? ie Will AMD's next gen chip run on it??

B. If that is the case...do you guys think it make sense for me to upgrade right now or hold off for a bit.

Money is an object so this isn't just an open credit card - lol.

you can run an athlon xp in almost any board you can run a T-bird in
you could pick up an xp 1800+ pretty cheap
but yur 1.4ghz chip is still pretty fast
I would wait a little longer

if you do get a new motherboard i would get something based on the nforce2 chipset
that way you would have the best upgrade path because it will support the barton when it migrates to a 200mhz fsb
