I am not sure if this is the best place to put this post but I don't have a better idea.
These are my specs:
Asus a7v (yes, the kt133 version)
Tbird 800 with Alpha pal6035
Geforce 2 gts
antec 300 watt ps
256 crucial pc 133 cl2
DVD player, CDRW
Creative soundblaster live!
Other stuffs....
I am wondering whether I should upgrade or not. If I do I was thinking of getting the new Shuttle kt266a (ak 3.1?), an Amd 1600 xp, and 2 x 256 crucial ddr.
It would cost around 300.
The issue I am having is: is this worth the hassle? The computer is stable (except in Quake III on multiplayer, I have no idea why) and is moderately fast. The thing is, if I upgrade now I only need to get those parts and nothing more. And there is some some chance I can make some money back by selling my old parts. If I wait, I may need to upgrade multiple items on my computer. And my parts may be worthless.
Also, I was just planning to wait, but if the ram prices do increase, my benefit of waiting is decreased.
I suppose I just have some pull for more speed....
Though it kind of seems like a waste of money.
I really only use my computer for a little gaming, seti crunching, some divx encoding, and general word processing, internet browsing, etc.
Thanks for any input into this small issue.
