I've been using this rig since 2007 or so and it has been great, giving me no issues and runs everything i throw at it. I'm playing SWOR, Skyrim, BF3, and MW3. Heres my setup:

Intel Q6600 quad @ 2.4ghz
EVGA GTX295 coop
Abit IP35-PRO
Raptor 150gb
4gb G.Skill
Corsair 850TX psu
LG 37LH20 60hz lcd

I'm considering going with a Dell 30" monitor in a month or two, should I go ahead and upgrade my entire system or maybe just get some more memory for a total of 8gb?

If I upgrade, I plan to start out with an intel i7, 8-12gb memory, a new mainboard, and hopefully continue using my PSU and video card for a few more months..

Any suggestions?? Thanks!

I'd go with an i5 2500k, a good z68 motherboard, 8gb of DDR3, and then wait for the radeon HD7950 or HD7870. A much more practical and cost effective upgrade from your current system. I wouldn't go with the i7 or 12 gigs of ram unless you need it.

You've been pondering an i7 build for over two years...
Pull The Trigger!

If the Corsair PS has been in use since 2007, change it also.

If you don't want to sink money into an entirely new build just yet, you could simply upgrade the graphics card and overclock that Q6600. Having just 4GB of ram shouldn't be too bad, as long as you're not leaving a bunch of background programs running.

Otherwise, I like gmaster456's advice plus an SSD maybe. The i7 is definitely not recommended, unless you're doing something other than just gaming and basic office/web surfing use (like rendering and video encoding).

If it works for everything you throw at it, why not wait for Ivy Bridge? Get that 30" in a month or two and if your current rig can't handle it even with a bit of an overclock (3.2ghz probably doable), then wait for another month for ivy bridge.
What's the allure of 30" anyway? It's so overpriced. HP's 27" is ~$670 ($650 when it first came out so you know it can go lower) and at 2560x1440 all you lose are 160 vertical lines. I sure hope HP (or some other company) comes out with a $800 30" variant to push prices down.

You answered your own question IMHO. Best to wait until you get that 30" and then see what you need to drive it properly.
