Upgrade or start from scratch?

This is what I have left from my rig. The rest is all dead.

A 2.6C Northwood
AGP 6800GT
512 PC 2700 Ram
200GB IDE
460W server infinity
No casing

I'm looking forward to playing Civ4, Warhammer, CnC3, and Supreme Commander. Im prepared to wait for a few weeks. My PC has not worked for almost 6 months now 🙁

My budget is about $600 (Rs 36000) and I will be using the following site only
http://www.galaxy.com.pk . I have been unable to get decent prices for my current components. However, Im prepared to sell them for lower.

I will be gaming at 1650 x 1050

That comes to Rs 46750, and then add 1500 or so for a new case. I know that is over what you specified, but the only motherboard I could see on there that wasn't a micro board and that supported the Core 2 Duo was the one I listed. You could hypothetically go down to something like a 160 IDE hard drive, but that would only save you about Rs 200, and you would sacrifice speed. I wish there was another site you could buy from to see if there were better deals, but it looks as though that is what you are going to end up spending. Honestly you should double the RAM I suggested which would run you another Rs 5100. Hope that helps 🙂

The real question is, why has your system not been running for 6 months?

Becuase I haven't had the parts to run it. Most died due to water leakage.
I was thinking of this:

D965RYCK Rs 7400
E4600 Rs 11600
2DB DDR2 Rs 10200
= 29200

I will get about ~6000 by selling my 6800GT + RAM.
That will leave me with about 15000 to spend. I can wait for the 8600 line or get the 8800GTS for 22,000.

The Hard disk, DVDRW and PSU will be used from my old PC.

Total Price - 45,200

Alternatively, I can get a P5PE-VM for Rs 3100; Get a E4600, Couple of Gigs of Ram, and use my 6800GT.

Total Price - 24,700. Only problem? I will be hitting a dead end.
