Question Upgrade or new build

I have not built a new gaming pc in years and I am wondering if any of these parts are salvageable for a new build? wondering if i can just get a new SSD and graphics card?

Depending on what games you plan on playing you could definitely just upgrade the computer. Pick up some more ddr3 ram, more storage if you need it and a new gpu, ie 5600xt/6xxx or 1660 ti/3060.

That said eventually the next gen console games are going to require a new build. Your motherboard doesn't support 8+ cores and nvme drives.

Currently, assuming availability, the best value for gaming hardware is a ps5/xbox series x. At $500 it would be next to impossible to build anything close. A comparable new computer would be around $1000.

I'm planning to build a new computer when socket am5 / ddr5 are released. I might pick up a ps5/xbox series x while I wait.

OP, build a new system. Something with 6C or above would work for ya.

Catch someone getting rid of an AMD 3600 when the new 5XXX series comes out and a cheap x470 motherboard with 16gb of 3200 DDR4. A base like that would blow away what you have and wouldn't break the bank. Top it off with a used RX580 and rock on. You could reuse the SSD.
