Upgrade or clean install of Win7 over XP

I ordered one of the $49 upgrade deals for Win7 last month, but now that Newegg has put a price of $99 on an OEM "full" version box I'm wondering which would be the easiest way to replace XP Pro. I haven't upgraded an OS before but have installed several times on clean disks over the years. I understand that an upgrade of XP to Win7 will be a clean install anyway, but will it go as easily with the upgrade version as it would with the "full" version? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

You can "upgrade" from XP to 7, but that is MS semantics. It means you qualify for the upgrade price. However! You cannot do it directly. A clean install is required. Been there - done that!
