I just completed a mini itx core i5-760 build a couple months back, but with Sandy Bridge approaching should I sell my mobo and cpu and go to Sandy Bridge or will I not see any difference? Or should I wait the year and wait for LGA 2011 with PCI-E 3.0?

I'd wait, motherboards are going to have to be able to support these GPUs that are breaching the maximum power limit that the current motherboard can handle (i'm not sure if its the pci-express lane or not) so I'm guessing MB makers are figuring out how to raise the bar with their circuitry to meet and go beyond what the current GPUs are encroaching on.

Umm... sell your system for something that's not out yet? No.
See any difference doing what? Work? What kind of work? Games, what type of games?

FYI, mini-ITX motherboards lag ATX/mATX by a few months usually, so it might be April before you could even build.

Ya I agree with jaydee, there is no point to buy now especially with an i-5 build. Maybe upgrades to the graphics but other than that it should handle anything nowadays.

you would sell your computer at a loss right now to save an insignificant amount of money and not have a machine for the next few months?

IINM, the average IPC gain is ~8-10% or thereabouts. Not worth dumping your current setup unless you're coming from a Core 2 / Phenom II setup. Even then, it's debatable (depending on what you want to do - gaming = heck no).

It's analogous to going from Conroe to Penryn. A lot of folks just skipped Penryn and leap-frogged to Nehalem.

you've guys been a tremendous help considering it's been killing me whether to upgrade or not. basically, though, next time i should upgrade will be when sandy bridge b2 or ex (i think) will come out, which should be q4 of 2011 or 2012?

You won't even see it at $499. Intel will discontinue it long before it reached that price.
