upgrade now or wait for the next gen?

so i'm running a p4c 2.6 (hyper-threaded) with a gig of pc3200 for two years now and it's getting a little long in the tooth ... plus i've got the upgrade itch. so my question is, should i upgrade now (to a 64-bit dual-core system with ddr2 and pci-e) or is there another big cpu/mobo change coming soon (ie, by the end of the year) that i should wait for?

I run a P4C 2.8 and am wondering the same thing.. Will I even gain a noticeable fps increase in my games by upgrading my mobo/cpu? Also have a 6800GT.
 
funny, i've got the 6800gt as well ...

when i upgrade i'll also get a pci-e video card. i guess that would be one reason to wait - let ati get their next-gen card out, then prices should come down a little, maybe get an x850xt/pe for a reasonable price.
 
Yeah, I don't like the idea of having to buy a new video card already. Wondering if I shot myself in the foot buying a new AGP card in the first place..
