Upgrade now or wait for later?

Got some money and am looking at upgrading my system a bit. I'm trying to decide between the Q6600, or 6850, or waiting for the next generation, which I hear are supposed to be pretty impressive.

Would it be worth my ~$300 to upgrade now, or is waiting for a few months a better choice?

Also, for any upgrade, does anybody know if my DS3 will work, or am I looking at a new motherboard as well?

Wait for a little while longer. Why not overclock your current CPU if you really need a boost btw ? If you can hit 2.4-2.8ghz with it, it will beat the purpose of buying a e6850, and if you don't really use apps that can utilize 4 cores it's even more useless to buy a q6600.

And I'm not sure about the rev 1 ds3, It might support the newer cpu's with a biosupdate. But not 100% sure.

When you say newer CPUs do you mean the 6850s, or the Wolfdale/Penryn lines?
