Upgrade now or wait a little bit?

I was wondering what do you all feel about upgrading at this time of year. PCI-e is becoming more and more popular/publicized so I dunno if I want to shell out 300-400 for like an Intel p4 2.8 (example) on any board available now and then spend $400 for an AGP vid card. Is pci-e still a ways off or right around this holiday season?

Your thoughts?

What do you have currently?
What is your main purpose for the upgrade, and what do you mainly use your computer for?

publicized, many of the graphics cards are just regular cards with a different interface, kind of like all these sata drives -> regular old pata drives with a different connector.
