Upgrade now or in 2 months?!

Hello, I am wondering if I should go ahead and upgrade right now because there isn't much reason to wait or to wait until the end of July. I know this is when the intel pricecuts and new procs are. I plan on spending $700-800 total on the following:
-core 2 duo
-775 mobo
-2GB ram
-pci-e gfx card
-new power supply about 500-600 watts, modular
-new cpu waterblock

What I was thinking of right now:
1 Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864AA1065 - Retail

$75.00 Mail-in Rebate
$214.99

1 ASUS P5B LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
$119.99

1 mushkin 550200 ATX12V 550W Power Supply - Retail
$79.99

1 Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 Conroe 2.13GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6420 -
$189.00

1 XFX PVT71PUDP3 GeForce 7900GS 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 EXTREME Video
$30.00 Mail-in Rebate
$169.99

1 Swiftech Apogee GT CPU Cooler Block - Retail
$49.99

Grand Total: $823.95

Keep in mind this is rough....I'll leave it to another thread to see if I should change something.

THE QUESTION: Should I go ahead and upgrade to core 2 duo right now or wait till end of July with price cuts on CPUs and possibly p35 board and diff parts, or is it not really going to be worth waiting?

I want to upgrade now just want to know if it's worth a 2 month wait.

Thanks.

I don't think it will in 2 months at all and it will take 1 year + till it's really viable imo.

After going through 4 different systems in the past 6 years, I would say only upgrade when you really need it.
I mean prices will go down all the time.

From personal experience, I was very relieved that I didn't bite the bullet on a "deal" for 500 GB drives last Christmas.
A few Canadian stores was having their Boxing Day sale for those drives at $160 a pop, now they can be had for like $130 a pop. Well I know it may not be much ($30 difference), but this is just an indicator.

Oh by the way if I remember correctly July 22 is the date for the next Intel's price cut. One of the biggest cut will be the Q6600 (almost going down by half price). So there's your "incentive".

Cheers ... 🙂

Cant get more bang for your buck than that.

Yea but not much uses multi threading and quad cores are really hot...so I'm pretty set on going for a dual core then maybe in a year or w/e pop in a quad core. I'm looking to overclock, hopefully a e6420 to 3.5Ghz.

I really do need to upgrade though. My current rig:
MSI k8n neo platinum
amd 64 mobile 3200+
1gig ocz 3500EB(can only use 512 cause of low voltage on bootup)
74gig raptor
water cooled

I think I'm gonna go for it. I mean if I wait I will only save like $50 anyway just on the processor....

Thanks guys

also thanks steve that is a great deal I think I might go for it.
