Upgrade my Q9450 to 2500k or ???

Just bend over and pay the intel tax. Dont splurge on a motherboard because you know that it will need to be replaced the next time you want to upgrade. And dont forget to worship intel for doing this to you.

Not everyone is poor and cannot afford $350 for a CPU/MB combo...

OP - go for it. Why not? At the very least you will get something new to play around with. The C2Qs also sell for a good amount and you could get a 2500k + MB for likely very little after off-loading your old parts. :)

Glad I read here first. Been thinking about upgrading to the I2500 from Q8300... but I think I'll first upgrade my HD4870 to an HD6850 or HD6870 first since I mainly just game.
