I bougt the first Klipsch Promedia 4.0's when they first came out.. they are freaking awesome and I love them and all that jazz, but I'm at least 2 versions behind.. 4.1's and now 5.1's

I see now on Klipsch's website they offer this upgrade -
http://www.klipschonline.com/store/product.asp?dept%5Fid=3&pf%5Fid=018

its supposed to be the new crossover the 4.1's came with - I am not 100% sure this will work for me, it says its for the V2-400's, I am not sure if mine are V2 or V1 (if there even was a V1-400), how can I tell ? where exactly does this crossover unit attatch to the speakers? anyone done this upgrade before?

any other place I can buy it, like from a cheaper reseller? $50 is $50, if I can get it for cheaper...

also they are selling a speaker wire upgrade from Monster cable http://www.klipschonline.com/store/product.asp?dept%5Fid=3&pf%5Fid=036 but for $60... this is a bit much and I think u are just paying for the name, can I get speaker wire from Radio Shack that will be as good? or at least better than the ones that came with the speakers? and would it be cheaper than $60 that I could get the monster's for ? anyone upgraded their speaker wire for klipsch's and seen an improvement?

thanks

HTe new module does not have a different crossover to my knowledge, as that is in the sub box.....but It does provide a noticable improvement in terms of the "fuzz" that many people get when changing the volume level.

I got it for $29.99 from Klipsch, but I called. Their Website prices are old and I guess they just seem to continue to take orders.

AS for the speaker wire, the stuff from RadioShack will do the trick. Although I have heard of some bragging of how great the improvement was, I doubt that some good Radio Shack cables won't yeild the same result.

If you're satisfied with what you have, why upgrade? However, if you're annoyed by the fuzz you hear, then the control pod upgrade might be considered in your situation.

I personally skipped the speaker wire upgrade. I felt that it wasn't worth the $70 for the Monster Cable 5.1 kit. Besides, I'm more than just blown away from the sound that I currently hear through my PM5.1s. I can only see this as an upgrade if you are somewhat an audiophile.

Another option you have is to sell your current ProMedia setup and purchase the 5.1s, but I personally don't think that's a very wise decision. Heck, my friend's sub on his ProMeida 2.1 setup is simply amazing! I can only assume that your sub can sound better.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your Klipsch products as much as I do!

well one thing - these original 4.00 's have quite boomy bass, you dont really feel the bass with the sub sitting next to you on the floor, but walk out of the room and the walls are all shaking and sh.it... I would like to hear the 4.1's with the new crossover thats supposed to fix that and give it tighter bass.. and I am quite happy with them, but if they could be even BETTER, then for sure I am interested in that

as for selling them, there is not a good market for these originals when someone could get the 4.1's that are better... so they would go for a cheap price and I would not be happy with that, so I would like to upgrade them if possible
