Upgrade my BFG 6800GT OC?

I have an AGP based BFG Geforce 6800 GT OC (256MB) - anyways, I've already planned on upgrading CPU/Mobo etc. However I want to do my upgrade all at once. Should I wait till dual core GPU's are out. considering that it looks like S939 is going to be ending life soon, or just go for a S939/PCI-E/7800GT/Single core A64 setup?

s939 ending soon? it's still got a long life ahead of it, just like they said about s754 being dead, and it's still going strong. i see no reason why you shouldn't go with the S939/PCI-E/7800GT/Single core A64 setup. if it's well within your budget, and if you feel the need to upgrade after that, then just SLI your 7800gt.

Lol..too fast...too soon. You still have enough juice with your setup atm...unless you're not satisfied with the performance with the current games these days >.>

yuh unless your gaming above 1600x1200 with full detail and massive aa/af you should be okay. Of course with the exception of those few dam games........i would say save your money sacrifice lower details in games and resolution until socket M and go full out then on a brand new system. Dont worry the wait wont be too long, you will probably regret spending your money now since ati/nvidia's new cards are being released immediately in the coming months. Something may come up, wait for crossfire to mature or something in the meantime.

Hold off, your card is more than sufficient for today's games. Save your money till next summer!

Dear god I was hope you guys were going to say that 😉 - a part of me says, FEAR SUCKS ON THIS (it does even on 7800GTX's!) but I'm primarily a COD2 player, so I'll hold off. Thanks guys for the advice.

Heck I just UPGRADED to a 6800GT not too long ago... hang on... wait for another generation of CPUs and Video Cards (like any day now... 2006 should see lots of new stuff).

yeah i'm waiting for the geforce8 series. i tend to upgrade every two generations of video cards (nvidia ftw!) and the only cards i've ever owned are the gf2, gf4, and now gf6 (i had an ati9800xt for a while but got rid of that thing quick!)
